We have been learning all about water and how, and why it freezes. We discussed and set up an experiment to see if we could freeze water, the children suggested different places to leave the water overnight to see which place would be best for freezing. Most children predicted the freezer would be the best place. The next morning, the children collected the cups of water and discovered some of them had turned to ice, we discussed the reasons why and then observed how they changed over time and how we could speed up the melting process.
In Literacy, we used freezing as a stimulus for writing. The characters from the film ‘Frozen’ were frozen in the ice and needed help! The children used their warm hands to help melt the ice and release the characters!
