Wonderful Worms!

We have started to learn about worms this week. We focussed on the story, Yucky Worms which informed us that worms are very important as they help our plants and flowers grow and they are not yucky as the tile of our story suggests! We have found out lots of interesting facts about worms like,  worms do not have any eyes or ears and feel vibrations in the ground. We produced some fantastic paintings of worms using different shades of brown paint. We painted long, short, straight, curvy/wiggly, thin and fat worms. We also made some worms using brown playdough by rolling the playdough onto a table using the palms of our hands. We enjoyed participating in an outdoor Squiggle While You Wiggle session and produced some excellent circles and spirals on the ground using chalk. We practised our counting skills and number recognition outside too using natural materials from our maths area. Our special helpers have continued to do an amazing job this week and have really impressed members of staff around school with their excellent speaking skills and manners. During our outdoor Friday session we went on a worm hunt. As we know that worms like cool and damp places we looked underneath various outdoor items within the school grounds. Unfortunately, we did not find any so we are going to be worm charmers next week and try something different to find some!
