We have had a super week in nursery being scientists and continuing to find out information about worms. We made our own mini wormeries by filling plastic bottles with layers of sand, soil and leaves. Each group chose a different food from our compost bucket to put at the top of the wormery so that we can see if worms prefer certain foods to others. As we struggled to find any worms last Friday, we poured a solution of water and mustard powder onto small sections of the grass to encourage worms to come come out. As the worms surfaced, we collected them in a bucket so that we could transfer them into our wormeries. Next week, after observing our worms in their wormeries we will try and identify the species.
During our maths session this week, we used wooden blocks to build structures and talked about the different shapes that we used. We used some photographs to inspire us and link to previous topics. For example we built Buckingham Palace and The International Space Station. During our communication and language session we focussed on following in instructions and played a game finding different objects within our classroom. For PSHE we practised taking turns by playing dominoes.
