Following on from our story called Tiny Crab is a Tidy Crab, we have focused on beaches this week as Tiny Crab lived at the beach in the story. We looked at and discussed a variety of items that were found on the beach like; seaweed, crabs, starfish, drift wood, shells and pebbles. The children used some wonderful vocabulary to describe the items. We found out facts about some of our beach treasure by reading a beautiful book called, Look What I Found on the Beach. Some of us independently drew pictures while looking at the beach items. We have started to paint pictures of our beach treasure which we will display on the wall in nursery. So far the paintings have been impressively detailed. Our focus for maths this week was shape and we had a fabulous shape hunt in our nursery garden. Some children made some rock pool pictures on the interactive white board. We did Squiggle While you Wiggle outdoors and produced spiral movements and marks.
