On Friday, Year 4 welcomed a visitor from Beamish to discuss climate change. Our guest taught us a lot about Gateshead’s rich coal-mining heritage and made links to fossil fuels and the resulting global warming.
The children learned lots about life down the pit and studied historical maps to find where the coalfields were located. They also then looked at the impact we all have on the environment, when learning about carbon footprint.
This was a great way to kickstart our project with Beamish Museum – we can’t wait to visit them on Friday 10th November!
