As part of our Space topic, UKS2 visited the Centre for Life in Newcastle to learn about the International Space Station and life beyond our planet. They all took part in a workshop called Destination Space where the children learnt how astronauts live on the International Space Station. In this, they used robots to repair solar panels on the ISS; tested the absorbency of space nappies and taste-tested fresh, freeze-dried and dehydrated strawberries! All children were given free time to explore the Centre for Life and everyone visited the planetarium where they learnt about the constellations. Finally they watched a Fire vs Ice live science show and were amazed at how fire and ice can co-exist. No school trip would be complete without a visit to the gift shop and a sing-song on the coach on the way home. The children were impeccably behaved and a credit to the school. Well done UKS2!
