Road Safety in Nursery

This week in nursery we have focussed on road safety. We discussed the importance of holding our adult’s hands while crossing the road and how to cross safely. We practiced using the key words; STOP, LOOK, LISTEN THINK and used toy cars and figures in a tough tray to act out crossing the road as well as using a zebra crossing. We made our own road signs using lolly sticks, painted pictures and drew traffic lights, road signs and zebra crossings. We used the interactive white board to produce pictures of patrol crossing people. We also used playdough to create road safety themed items. Our maths sessions this week focussed on number In everyday situations, taking or giving two or three objects from a group. For physical development we participated in Squiggle While You Wiggle and using scissors effectively and safely.

During our outdoor Friday session we used the reception yard to practice crossing the road and pretended that we were a lollipop person. We also used some push along vehicles to practice using a zebra crossing on our nursery yard.
