Children in Year 5 and Year 6 recently enjoyed an online event hosted by the RAF in which they worked in teams to design, build and fly their own glider. Children learned principles of aerodynamics to help them to design a glider which could last the distance in our flight tests. As well as building gliders, the children learned about how sustainability is increasingly important in engineering. Children worked in pairs to design their own ‘sustainable’ aircraft, thinking about energy source, materials and purpose.
