Science investigation this term: Pattern Seeking
This term so far, we have been learning about the body. We have looked at the skeleton and the purpose of our bones. This week we talked about the word stability and balance. The children had to investigate how a structure can support a load effectively. They were given just 10 sheets of paper, Sellotape and a tennis ball. The task was to raise the tennis ball as high off of the table as possible, keeping the tennis ball stable at all times.
Children worked effectively in teams to plan out a design and then create their bone like structure. We had some great end results. We discussed what made some more successful and then finally compared our creations to a diagram of the skeleton.
Next week we are investigating how the skeleton is used for protection!
