Baby visitor in Nursery!

We enjoyed having a visitor in nursery on Monday. Miss Clough’s great-nephew visited us to help us learn more about babies. He was supposed to visit during our baby animals/mammals topic but was unwell unfortunately. We thoroughly enjoyed having him in nursery and found out that babies communicate through crying and noises, they don’t cry actual tears until they are two weeks old, they don’t develop kneecaps until six months old and they are not born with teeth. We watched our baby visitor roll over, drink milk from his bottle, eat a snack, and hold and shake his toys. Some of us carefully held him on our knees and pushed him in his pram outside. We talked about how he might be feeling when he made certain expressions and made different noises and the importance of being kind and gentle. We also talked about the fact that everyone began life as a baby and the different stages of growth.

In Maths this week we focussed on comparing amounts using cubes, deciding if two sets are equal and counting/matching equipment. We have completed more beach themed games on the interactive white board and shared beach themed stories. Some of us have created some beautiful painting of the beach as well. We have continued to care for our sunflowers which appear to be thriving. We re-potted some more tomato plants that have grown in the compost of one of our cactus plants indoors! We are keen to observe how big the plants will grow and if they will produce tomatoes! On Friday we had a sensory/messy rime outdoors.
