We have started our new beach topic this week. We explored and examined crabs, seaweed, shells, pebbles and drift wood in our investigation area using magnifying glasses. We also shared the book, Look what we found at the beach which is a beautifully illustrated and factual book. By using the book we were able to identify the crabs in our classroom as Shore crabs and we found out that when crabs grow they discard their shell and grow a bigger one. We completed a crab jigsaw on the interactive white board and we watched fascinating videos about crabs using the internet. During our maths sessions we played subitising games and we counted sounds that we listened to in our heads. On Friday we took part in Sports Day. We demonstrated some fantastic physical abilities by completing a carousel of physical activities which included: a relay race, egg and spoon race, javelin throwing, beanbag balancing race and a hurdle race. We managed to avoid the rain and we had a great time!
