Science Week in Reception

We have had a great time being scientists this week. We all experienced going inside of a dome which was situated in our school hall. The dome had a projector inside and showed projected stars and constellations, planets and astronauts on the moon. We were so excited about what we had seen in space that back in the classroom we created our own rockets, space posters, space books and lists! In our big science workshop the children took part in a hands on experiment using acids, alkalis and indicators. Using the chemicals and science equipment they made fizzy and foamy chemical reactions. During the session we also discussed how important it is to carry out Science experiments safely. We watched a brilliant presentation in the hall also about chemical reactions and practical demonstrations about physics. In the classroom we experimented with colour mixing and then created our own volcanic eruptions!
