Our Assembly Focus this Year

Dear Parents and Carers,

This year, our school assemblies will focus on three key themes that support children’s personal development and help build a kind, inclusive, and respectful school community:

1. Our Behaviour Values: Ready, Respectful, Safe

These three simple words guide our expectations and help children understand how to behave in a way that supports both learning and wellbeing:

  • Ready – for learning, listening, and trying our best
  • Respectful – to ourselves, others, and our environment
  • Safe – in our actions, words, and choices

Assemblies will explore what these values look like in everyday school life and why they are so important.

2. Rights Respecting

As part of our commitment to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, we are continuing our journey as a Rights Respecting School. Children will learn about their rights and the importance of respecting the rights of others. This helps them develop empathy, fairness, and a strong sense of global citizenship.

3. No Outsiders

What is No Outsiders?
No Outsiders is an inclusive education programme that promotes equality, diversity, and respect for all. It is built around the idea that everyone is welcome in our school community—regardless of race, religion, gender, family structure, ability, or background.

Through stories, discussions, and activities, children will explore topics such as:

  • Respecting others’ beliefs and cultures
  • Understanding different types of families
  • Challenging stereotypes
  • Celebrating individuality
  • Standing up against discrimination and bullying

Assemblies will be age-appropriate and engaging, using picture books, real-life scenarios, and interactive elements to help children connect with these ideas in a meaningful way.We believe that fostering an inclusive mindset from an early age helps children grow into confident, compassionate individuals who are ready to thrive in a diverse world.

If you have any questions or would like to learn more about any of these themes, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Regards,
Mrs. Forrest
