This half term, Elms, Oaks and Beeches will be learning about flat file databases in computing. This week was our introduction to the topic, where we learnt key vocabulary such as field and file. We learnt about how databases store and organise data, and how we can use them to retrieve data we need. We created cards with data on and organise them into alphabetical order manually. We thought about how long this would take if we had lots more data to organise. This helped us to understand how useful databases can be, before we begin to create and use them online.
