This week in Computing, Year 2 explored how programming isn’t just about writing code — it can also involve designing and creating artwork to support a project.
The children worked in groups to design their own robot mats, choosing a theme and drawing six pictures to place on their mats. They then planned and tested different routes for a floor robot to travel between the pictures, thinking carefully about how to avoid obstacles.
Later in the lesson, they added small obstacles to their mats and programmed the robot to navigate around them. This helped them understand how algorithms and design choices work together in computing.
It was a brilliant mix of creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork — well done Year 2!
