From Leaves to Lupins: Another Week of Discovery

This week, our nursery children have been busy continuing their autumn topic with lots of hands-on exploration and creativity. They closely examined branches, leaves, and acorns collected last week, then created beautiful drawings for our oak tree wall display in the classroom. In maths, we used tweezers and tongs to count and sort the oak items into numbered containers—supporting number recognition and strengthening our hands.

We had our first movement singing session of this half term, and staff were very proud of how well the children managed to take off and put on their socks and shoes beforehand and afterwards.

Outdoors, the children used our new leaf pickers and hand shovels to continue collecting autumn leaves, which were then composted in our leaf composter to support learning about recycling and caring for the environment. Indoors, we made orange playdough and used it to make pumpkins.

Excitingly, we’ve now built our third greenhouse! The children helped plant lupin seeds, which we’ll be caring for over the coming weeks.
