Personification in Oaks

In English this term, Oaks have been looking at a short video called Alma. This week we began looking at how to use personification to convey a specific tone and atmosphere in an opening setting description. We spent lots of time reading examples from a range of texts and using drama to act them out before composing our own sentences. These sentences were then shared in pairs, small groups and in a whole class Personification Parade to allow the children to magpie others’ ideas. They then used their vast bank of words and phrases to write their own setting descriptions. The work they produced is fantastic and I can’t wait to read their finished narratives.
