What a fantastic day Year 4 had at Beamish this week! The heavy rain did not hold us back one bit. The children enjoyed visiting an 1820s house and a 1950s village, in order to compare the difference in lifestyles, living conditions and, for our climate project, carbon footprint. They then looked at ways carbon dioxide in the atmosphere can be offset – by using renewables and planting trees. Each group was able to design there own wind turbine and plant their own seeds for a new tree.
It was also great exploring the site on historic buses and trams, learning lots from the amazing volunteers and getting lots of fresh air!
