This half term, Elms, Oaks and Beeches have been working on creating their very own toy for Christmas. They were given a design brief, carried out research and then designed their own ferris wheel. They manufactured their ferris wheels using a number of DT skills, including using hacksaws and glue guns. We then added electrical components, including a motor to power a pulley system in order to make our ferris wheels turn. We programmed the ferris wheels using Crumble Controllers, using block coding software to write the programme to make the ferris wheels turn via the motor. As well as developing our DT and computing skills and knowledge, we developed our teamwork and communication skills. We really enjoyed this project!
