LITERACY:
Listen to this wonderful story by Julia Donaldson, Zog and the Flying Doctors – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WE8KV4dydak
Draw a character from the story in the middle of a piece of paper. You could draw Zog or Princess Pearl, or one of their patients from the story. Can you think of your own words to describe the character?

Mathematics:
(20 mins) Let’s get our brains all warmed up with some counting. Join in with John at Super Movers and count in 1s, 2s, 5s, and 10s. You’ll love it – great music, actions and counting!! https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/supermovers/ks1-maths-counting-with-john-farnworth/zbct8xs
• This is a great way to combine reading and maths. Use alphabet cards or magnetic letters and create ordinal numbers cards for 1st to 10th. Then let the children match the first 10 letters of the alphabet with the appropriate ordinal number. You can mix them up to make it more challenging or continue further up the alphabet if you wish.
• Complete the interactive lesson on ordinal numbers http://resources.hwb.wales.gov.uk/VTC/ordinal_numbers/eng/Introduct/default.htm
• Use any cars or other toy vehicles you have around the house. Create a ramp and let the toy vehicles go down one at a time leaving them where they stop. Can the children use ordinal number cards to label which vehicle came 1st, 2nd, 3rd etc.
• Finally recap on our symmetry learning by playing the butterfly game http://boowakwala.uptoten.com/kids/boowakwala-adventures-butterfly-butterflycolor.html
Other:
• • We normally do P.E on a Wednesday. Today we are going to start with some great music to do some dancing to. We’d like you to pretend to be these sea creatures as you watch and listen to the song There’s a Hole at the Bottom of the Sea. You can pretend to be a shark, an eel, a squid, and a crab. Please click on the link https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=R1Qn2bcZRTo
• This week’s Arty activity – Making treasure maps – Pirates love to find treasure and to find treasure they need to follow a treasure map. X always marks the spot. Can you create your own treasure map for a pirate to follow? Once you have drawn your treasure map, you need to make it look really old and worn. This is the messy part. Help your grown up to make a cup of tea, when it has cooled a little you could use the teabag to rub across your paper to make it look old, or you could dip a paintbrush in your grown-ups cup of tea and brush it onto your map. Let it dry then magically it will look like a real treasure map! I wonder what treasure is hiding under the ‘x’
