Dear parents and carers,
We know some of our children will be very excited to return to school, but others may be feeling unsure or anxious, as may some parents also. The impact of the closure of schools to some pupils, the uncertainty in their lives and everything related to the COVID pandemic can be felt in children’s lives a range of ways: disruption to routine and sleep patterns, lack of opportunity to develop social skills, and of course disruption to learning among others. We want to work together to mitigate the impacts of COVID on our pupils’ wellbeing.
Our focus on return to school will be on our pupils’ mental and physical wellbeing. We have a wide range of activities planned to support pupils’ wellbeing on their return to school. The people in the best position to help us to identify any children who may find the return to school difficult (and offer them support) will be their parents and carers, as you have the best understanding of what the children’s experiences have been in this most recent lockdown.
Please complete the survey to let us know how your child is feeling about their return to school, in order that we can offer support. (We will also be seeking the views of the children on their return to school.) This will be a telephone call from your child’s class teacher initially, but we have access to a range of services which we can direct families to for support if this would be helpful. We will also be seeking the views of the children on their return to school.
