Congratulations to Miss Crowe

On Tuesday the SSPS held their annual awards ceremony and we are so proud to say that our very own Miss Crowe was nominated and recognised for the amazing part that she plays in our PE curriculum. She is an amazing person, athlete and role model to both staff and children. Below is a copy of her supporting statement, which was shared at the awards ceremony.

“Ceara has always undertaken the role of PE Lead with enthusiasm and has encouraged as many staff and pupils as possible to get involved in providing / accessing a range of fantastic sporting opportunities. This has even included arranging for her mum to come across from the Isle of Man to deliver orienteering opportunities for our Year 3 and 4 pupils within the school grounds. Every year she organises our Sport’s Day, our school games’ day and themed events linked to the Olympics, World Cup ( including staff sweep stakes). Over the past 2 years Ceara has focused on staff development and has arranged for a number of specialist coaches to come into school and train our staff so that they are equipped to deliver the best PE opportunities possible for all pupils. Recently this has included arranging for staff to come from Gibside school to deliver staff training on inclusivity in PE. Inclusivity has been a passion of Ceara’s over the past 2 years and she has encouraged as many of our pupils as possible to join in the sportability events offered by the GSSP. This has been greatly appreciated by parents and governors, who have seen the positive impact it has had on those children who have been chosen to represent our school. She always encourages us to field a B team so that as many children get the opportunity to represent the school as possible. She values the role that PE plays in supporting pupil’s social and emotional needs and has adapted our school PE plans and assessments to ensure that every lesson encourages team work, team spirit and respect and provides pupils with opportunities for coaching and peer mentoring. Ceara has been involved in the recruitment of a Sports Apprentice for our school. She has been an excellent mentor for our apprentice and has worked closely with him and the college to provide him with a range of opportunities, both within and outside of school, to further develop his skills.”

Well done once again Miss Crowe; we are all very proud of you!
