This week Year 1 have been learning about capacity. We discussed the difference between capacity and volume:
Capacity – the amount that a container can hold.
Volume – the measure of space taken up by the object itself.
The children enjoyed a practical lesson allowing them to explore capacity and understanding that it is the maximum amount that something can hold. They used a variety of containers and water to fill them. They showed different capacities depending on descriptions such as full, nearly full, half full, nearly empty, empty.
Article 28: You have the right to a good quality education. You should be encouraged to go to school to the highest level you can.
