From Zebra Crossings to Lollipop Patrol – Road Safety Week in Nursery!

This week, we celebrated Road Safety Week with lots of hands-on learning! The children created red and green crossing props to understand traffic signals by cutting them out and attaching them to a lolly stick, We watched a short road safety video, and then put tour knowledge into practice on our Nursery yard. Wearing high-visibility clothing, we role-played crossing the road safely using sit-in cars and a zebra crossing mat and practiced looking left and right, and waited for the “green” signal before crossing. We even acted as the lollipop patrol person, helping friends cross safely. Alongside this, the children focused on making a variety of lines by using good pencil grip and drawing, as well as manipulating playdough and placing it onto mats with different line patterns. In maths, we worked on understanding numbers and subitising, while a listening walk—helped develop phonological awareness.
